Rollicking Caller Ships In To Hobbs To Win Veteran Stake at Zia Park
HOBBS, New Mexico (November 10, 2007) - Life on the road is good for Rollicking Caller, at least the road between Albuquerque and Hobbs, New Mexico. For the second straight race, trainer Ramon Gonzales shipped the 6-year-old gelding from his Albuquerque base to Zia Park the morning of the race and for the second-straight race the gelding won, this time the $63,370 Veteran Stakes on Saturday afternoon. "Shipping in is always tough on the horse, but I guess he likes it on the van," Gonzales said.

Rollicking Caller, ridden by Miguel Perez, raced the mile and a sixteenth in 1:45 3/5 after slow early fractions. The field was fairly bunched entering the lane when Rollicking Caller went to the front in the middle of the track. "He got to the front and then started changing leads," Perez said. The jockey got the gelding lined out and they finished a half length ahead of the dead-heating pair of War Bridle and Guiding.
