Undefeated Peppers Pride Racing At Zia Park Sunday

HOBBS, New Mexico (November 11, 2007) – The undefeated filly Peppers Pride goes for her 13th straight victory when she starts in the $170,000 New Mexico Cup Championship Fillies and Mares at six furlongs on Sunday afternoon.

The New Mexico Cup Championship Fillies and Mares runs as the ninth race on the stakes filled 11-race program. The 11 stakes races comprise the New Mexico Cup program with over $2 million in purses for New Mexico-bred Thoroughbreds and Quarter Horses.

First post time is 12:15 p.m. with free parking and free grandstand admission.

The Joe Allen-owned and bred Peppers Pride is chasing the modern-day record of 16 wins to start a career, a record shared by Mister Frisky and Hallowed Dreams. Mister Frisky started his career in Puerto Rico and then came to the United States and raced for hall of fame trainer Laz Barrera. Much like Peppers Pride, Hallowed Dreams raced to much of her success against state-breds. She was a Louisiana-bred filly who also competed as a sprinter.

Peppers Pride has been perfect for trainer Joel Marr and she has four wins at Zia Park. As a 2-year-old, she won the New Mexico Cup Juvenile Fillies and last year won the New Mexico Cup Filly Championship.

The 4-year-old daughter of Desert God prepared for her start in the New Mexico Cup Championship Fillies and Mares with a dominating 7-length win in a Zia Park allowance race on October 22.
