April has the "backside" busy. The track crew is
getting the track surface in top shape and the maintenance department is
preparing the barn area for the summer.
The chapel has new bathrooms and kitchen. The kitchen will make our Wednesday
meal easier to prepare and serve for anyone on the backside to come and enjoy.
The meal is at 5:30pm and all are welcome.
This year Mark Green joins us as the Bi-lingual chaplain. He has been a pastor
in Roswell for 5 years and before that the chaplain at Mammoth Park in New
Jersey. He is a seasoned chaplain and will go on to Hobbs in the fall. His wife
Lavon will commute from Roswell when she can . Mark has plans for a movie and
game night on Tuesday evenings, Bible study Wednesdays and Spanish church on
Thursdays. What an asset he will be to our track and New Mexico racing.
English for a second language will be offered all summer on Tuesday and Thursday
nights and on Friday mornings.
We have volunteers who have signed up to do special things for the barn area. I
have called this program "adopt a barn" and it will help to make the summer even
more special for our hard working grooms and their families. Cookies, supplies
and treats will be given out by these volunteers to assigned barns. Sign up with
me; you will be blessed!
Kids Klub will start in May; weekends only until school is out then will go
Wednesday through Sunday. Our learning center has new programs this year and
some of the favorites. We will have a campout at Bonito Lake in June, sleep over
at the chapel; Week long camps for 3rd- 12th grades. Sponsor a child to camp
this year.
Church service is Sunday mornings at 10:25 and goes for about a half hour. Come
join us.
We have been looking forward to the return of the horsemen. I have missed each
of you. My couple of trips to El Paso reminded me of how welcome you make me
feel.
Paul in the New Testament says that he (Paul) was poured out as a drink
offering. I want that; holding nothing back; giving all to see God's Kingdom
here on earth and in each of our hearts.
I will see you at the track!
