Fearless Anthony sets a second track record
Fearless Anthony swept through his opponents like a buzz saw en route to his second
straight track record setting performance at Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino on
Tuesday.
The former $8,000 claimer jumped to the allowance level for the feature race and took
no prisoners. The seven-year-old gelding and jockey Casey Lambert timed the 5 furlongs
distance in a sparkling 55.86 seconds, shaving one-hundredth of a second off the former
mark held by Absolutely True set in the Budweiser Handicap on Feb. 9.
Fearless Anthony was fresh off a track record setting score on Feb. 12 when he clocked
five and one-half furlongs in a blistering 1:01.62.
Under trainer Chris Hartman, Fearless Anthony has carved two new Sunland Park track
records in consecutive outs. The achievement is believed to be a first for a Thoroughbred
at Sunland Park in recent times.
Casey Lambert was a perfect three for three on the day. He said, “He was really fast. He
broke well and just took over.” Lambert also won aboard Kyla’s Kitten (5th race) and Regal
Career (6th race).
Fearless Anthony owns a sterling career record of 17 wins, 10 seconds and 4 thirds from
57 starts. He has earned over $182,000.
Simulcast racing continues every day of the week. The Dubai Carnival of Racing will be
shown on Thursday starting at 9:30 a.m. Future wagering (pool #2) on the Kentucky Derby
and Kentucky Oaks begins at 10 a.m. Thursday.
Live racing resumes on Friday at 12:55 p.m. The $600,000 WinStar Derby is fast
approaching. Sunland Park’s main attraction will be held on Sunday, March 16.
