Dpi Good Boy speeds to win $342,469 Shue Fly

Top qualifier Dpi Good Boy sped to a hard fought victory in the $342,469 Shue Fly
at Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino on Saturday.
Under a cool ride from Joe Martinez, Dpi Good Boy legitimized his top qualifying time
with another sparkling performance in the rich feature for New Mexico-bred Quarter
Horses racing 400 yards.
The three-year-old gelded son of Chicks A Blazin came away from a bumpy start
in good order and quickly seized command 100 yards from the gate. He was in
full gear in deep stretch and responded well from right handed urging when
challenged by Chicks A Shakin on the outside.
Dpi Good Boy held off his fast closing rival to win by a head in a quick time of
19.05 seconds. The clocking established a new stakes record for the Shue Fly
and earned a 100 speed index. The 2-1 winning favorite returned $6.80 on a
$2 win ticket to all his loyal backers.
Dpi Good Boy earned $160,961 from his fourth career triumph. The imposing
sophomore is owned by the Desirable Properties, Inc. of Wimberley, Texas.
His career bankroll has swelled past the $200,000 mark in just six career starts.
Carlos Sedillo, the gleaming winner trainer, collected one of the richest paydays
of his career. He has started out quickly in the young Sunland season by winning
seven races.
Blazin N Shakin, winner of the Senorita Futurity at the New Mexico State Fair, ran
a big race to gain a strong second. The Chicks A Blazin filly with Chris Zamora in
the irons closed boldly in the final stages. The runner-up earned $61,644 for owners
Mike Abraham, Leslie and Pierre Amestoy, Jr. of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Blazin Force completed an all Chicks A Blazin trifecta by finishing third. The top
three finishers are offspring of the stallion Chicks A Blazin. Blazin Force finished
nearly one-length behind the winner and earned $37,672 for the BLM Racing
Stable, Inc. of El Paso, Texas.
Sunland Park’s KLAQ Handicap winner Ducky Drake ran a bold second in the
$50,000 Swift Stakes run at Turf Paradise on Saturday.
Some Ghost and Romeos Wilson collide in the $100,000 Albert Dominguez Memorial
Handicap at one and one-sixteenth miles on Sunday at Sunland Park. Post time
is 12:15 p.m. on Sunday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.
